National Representation

VASSP is a member of the Australian Secondary Principals’ Association (ASPA), the national peak body representing secondary school principals across Australia.

Through ASPA, VASSP contributes to national advocacy, policy dialogue and cross-jurisdictional collaboration. This ensures the voice of Victorian government secondary school leaders informs federal education discussions and broader national reform.

Our membership strengthens our influence, extends our networks and supports collective leadership across the country.

Working in partnership across the profession

VASSP works alongside key principal and education organisations to strengthen leadership across Victorian public education. These relationships support collaboration, shared professional priorities and coordinated action on issues that affect schools, leaders and students across the system.

The Victorian Principals Association represents leaders of Victorian government primary schools. VASSP works closely with the VPA on areas of shared interest including leadership support, system reform, principal wellbeing and professional learning. This collaboration strengthens the collective voice of government school leaders and supports alignment across the P–12 education system.

The Principals Association of Special Schools represents leaders of Victorian government specialist schools. VASSP values the close relationship with PASS to ensure that the perspectives of specialist settings are reflected in broader education discussions. Our collaboration recognises the diverse contexts in which Victorian school leaders operate.

Country Education Partnership supports rural and regional education communities across Victoria. VASSP works with CEP to ensure that the experiences and priorities of rural and regional secondary schools are reflected in policy conversations and leadership initiatives. This partnership strengthens support for school leaders working in regional and remote contexts.

The Australian Principals Federation is a federal organisation dedicated to advancing the industrial interests of principal class employees in government schools. It operates through state branches in Victoria and Western Australia, with membership open to principal class employees in the government school sector of those states. VASSP maintains a close working relationship with APF on matters affecting the industrial conditions and professional environment of school leaders.

Business Managers Victoria is the professional association representing business managers and administrative leaders across Victorian schools. It supports members through advocacy, professional learning, practical resources, networking opportunities and timely sector updates. By strengthening the capability and voice of business managers, the association helps schools operate effectively and sustainably, allowing principals and staff to focus on high-quality education outcomes. Business Managers Victoria brings members together to share knowledge, address common challenges and promote the vital contribution business managers make to school leadership, governance, finance, workforce management and day-to-day operations across Victoria’s public education system.
